The firm was established in Manila, Philippines in 1968 as a branch office of Stevens, Elmslie & Co., a Company of Average Adjusters (in association with Wm. Elmslie & Son of London) operating in the Far East - principally Hong Kong.
In 1986, the practice of Stevens Elmslie & Co. was merged with that of Manley Hopkins Son & Cookes, an Average Adjusting company established in London in 1844, under the name Manley Stevens Ltd.
The Manila Office was under the direct supervision of the Hong Kong Office represented in the Philippines by several expatriates. In 1990, the directors of the group decided that the Manila Office was self sufficient in proficiency and expertise and management of the Philippine business was passed to the Filipino Adjusters.
In 1992, Manley Stevens joined the Societe General de Surveillance (SGS) Group and the company name became Stevens Adjusters, Inc.
In 1996, the business of Stevens Adjusters, Inc. was acquired from SGS by the Charles Taylor Group. Because of restrictions on foreign ownership of Philippine companies, it was not possible for Stevens Adjusters Inc., Manila to be included in the acquisition. The group's practice of Average Adjusting in Manila was therefore acquired from SGS by the adjusters of the Philippine office.
